What are PCA Services?

Personal Care Assistance (PCA) Services are available to eligible people enrolled in a Minnesota Health Care Program. A PCA helps a person with day-to-day activities in their home and community.

What is the cost for PCA Services?

PCA services are free for most people with Medical Assistance.

​

Can children under the age of 18 qualify for PCA Services?

Yes, PCA services are covered for all ages.

How do I get PCA Services?

  1. Apply for Medical Assistance contacting your county Human Services office. http://mn.gov/dhs/people-we-serve/adults/health-care/health-care-programs/contact-us/county-tribal-offices.jsp 

  2. Have an assessment done for PCA Services. Contact your county or health plan to request an assessment for PCA Services. An assessor will contact you to conduct an assessment, which will determine if you qualify to receive PCA Services. Inform the assessor that you would like Gracious Angels Home Healthcare to be your PCA choice provider. 

  3. Contact Gracious Angels Home Healthcare. If you currently receive PCA Services through a different agency we will have you sign a "change of agency" form and help coordinate the transfer of services to Gracious Angels Home Healthcare.

What are the requirements to become a PCA caregiver?

Must be at least 16 years old or older (16 and 17 year olds must meet additional requirements). Must pass a back ground study and complete standardized PCA training.
